Brick Temple

Brick temple

Ceramic and Installation artist Jacques Kauffman created the brick temple to honour the humble brick and the brick maker. The meditative dome externally represents the brick kilns, a common sight around this area. Jacques who had been working with brick making since his youth and work in Africa was immediately taken by this sight. Architectural delights like the floor pattern depicting the placement of the bricks in kilns, the Catenary vault-like entrance focusing at the Chattri, and skylight can be explored within the structure. The textures on the outside of the entrance expose the deeper relationship between brick and mortar. Features: Ceramic dome in the middle of the floor which catches the trajectory of the sun from the skylight Levitating brick Purposeful and attention-directing entrance through water body.
